When an existing Victorian suffered extensive fire damage, the owner, a young and social fashion designer, saw an opportunity to transform the awkward and traditional flat with greatly improved function and flow. The interior was gutted, opening up and relocating the living spaces to the street side. The bedrooms were moved to the rear, surrounded in walls clad with re-used scorched wood studs. A continuous dark wood band-cum-shelf acts as a datum and weaves the varied spaces together.
