With a small Victorian on a steep site, the owners wished to open and enlarge the main gathering spaces, create usable exterior areas, and provide a strong connection to the outdoors. The intimate addition allows for a new courtyard that connects to the main living areas and provides a roof deck. A wall dividing the kitchen and dining room was removed and a new island provides formal definition to the newly opened spaces. Three new retaining walls allow for unique exterior areas accessible from both levels of the house.
