The Marlins Training Academy in the Dominican Republic is currently under construction and is comprised of two main buildings, an athletic / administrative building and a dormitory / classroom building. The Marlins field two separate teams here, and as such the entire campus is divided in two. Each building forms a “T” shape with the stems serving as the axis between the two teams. It is in these stems where the functions align with a greater communal atmosphere. The stem of the residential building is split in two, with the classrooms and social functions surrounding a great interior courtyard with a grand amphitheater. The buildings harken to Miami architecture in its clean almost art deco appearance. The long planes of roof offer a surprise pop of Miami blue color.
